Q1 Complete!
What a great start to the year for Quarter 1 - important milestones in our growth strategy achieved:
- Hitting challenging targets including a record month in March - thanks to you and our great team!
- Hiring of a Purchasing Admin and EA/Marketing Assistant allowing us to add a more diverse range of experience to the team - welcome Matt and Holly!
- Launching our new VARLAQ branding.
It’s really motivating that the company is growing in the right direction, and we are looking forward to advancing further throughout the year, with many projects set out to help us achieve this. More to come on these – we’ll keep you informed and involved!
Work Experience
We have had the exciting opportunity of collaborating with one of our local schools to provide a work experience opportunity with one of the students. They’ve been involved in our day-to-day work, integrating them in with our office team and taking on administration tasks involving placing orders, product entry, filing and much more.
Developing product range for composite substrates
Building on experience gained over the last few years, we’ve recently had a strong focus on refining our product options for composite substrates – external doors, shutters and much more. Having had several prospective clients in to carry out trials in our spraybooth and on the automatic line, we’re really confident we’ve got some very competitive products with some great productivity benefits.
If you have any requirements like this, please get in touch – we’ll be continuing to expand this range through the rest of the year.
Jotun Awareness Session
With the rapid growth of our team, we’ve been looking to continually educate the new recruits and refresh the technical knowledge of the whole team. Jotun kindly offered to run a general training session for us, so we’ve just had the great opportunity of having Gary and Peter here for this!
This session provided us with current information on Jotun’s range and company background - a few of the main areas discussed were:
- Key markets for Jotun products
- The technical support and knowledge Jotun can offer to backup our expertise as a distributor
- Questions we need to ensure we are asking our clients to provide the best service in finding them their desired product
- General paint technology and science
We are grateful to have grown a strong relationship with Jotun over the years and appreciate their continued support to further our expertise – thanks Gary and Peter!
Paint Industry News
You may already be aware that the European Commission has adopted a regulation amending Annex XVII of REACH to restrict di-isocyanates on the EU market which will take effect after the 24th August 2023. This requires that all users of these products are formally trained on their safe use.
At Kortec we will be ensuring that we have successfully completed training on the safe use of di-isocyanates prior to this date. Please be aware that this regulation affects nearly all polyurethane products, and the training requirement also applies to end users such as yourselves and needs renewing every 5 years.
We are preparing a document summarising the products affected in our ranges and other information about this requirement and will share that shortly.
